    PERSPECTIVES

     For a bright future

    Retaining and Recruiting Young Iowans

Iowa faces a potential worker shortage of 200,000 by 2012. As a young individual, Chris has a unique perspective of young people whom Iowa needs to attract and retain to secure its future as a great state to work and live.

    Agriculture

Chris’s comprehension and passion for farming and agriculture developed growing up on his family farm, studying agriculture in college, and continues through farming today. Chris’s perspective of modern agriculture and food systems can provide first-hand input in the development of ag, food, and energy policy.

    Transportation Infrastructure

Mud beaten roads, crumbling highways, ailing bridges, and dated rail systems are in immediate need of attention to repair AND enhance our state’s roads and rail to keep pace with traffic and transport demands that continually evolve.

    Education

Iowa must work to provide the best education system in the world that is accessible and affordable. As a recent college graduate and timely proximity to his elementary and high school education, Chris understands the needs and challenges of today’s educational system from a student’s perspective.

    Renewable Energy & Energy Independence

Perpetually increasing energy costs amplify the need for Iowa to work aggressively to set bold standards as a leader in renewable energy and decrease dependence on foreign energy sources.
